What We Do & Our Mission

As a non-profit, our mission is to create opportunities to expose underserved children to careers in healthcare. Dr. Genie’s Kids provides funding for mini-medical programs at schools and community centers in underserved areas. These programs are hosted by Little Medical School which through STEM activity-based programming, gives students a taste of what it is like to be a doctor, veterinarian, pharmacist, or nurse.

Support Dr. Genie’s Kids Foundation

Your donations make a powerful difference! Here’s how contributions help inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals:

  • STEM Scholarships

Donations provide scholarships for children of all backgrounds to take part in Little Medical School programming accredited by STEM.org. One of our highlights is the STEM Careers Exploration program for children aged 8-12. Here, kids immerse themselves in nursing, dentistry, surgery, pediatrics, and nutrition. Through fun, hands-on activities, we spark curiosity and ignite a passion for STEM. The program concludes with an exciting ‘Match Day’ ceremony, where participants select their favorite career path, paving the way for their ambitions in healthcare.

  • Educational Book Readings

We distribute books and host reading events to engage and inspire young minds in underserved communities.

  • Healthcare Career Programs

Tailored to middle and high school students, these programs provide a deeper understanding of the wide variety of careers in healthcare.

  • Supporting Girl Scout Badge Achievements

We help underserved communities by offering opportunities for girls to earn STEM-related badges, fostering confidence and a love for learning.

With your support, we can expand these vital programs, bringing STEM inspiration and career exploration to children who might not otherwise have access. Your donation plants the seeds for a brighter, healthier future—one aspiring medical professional at a time.

Please consider donating today to empower underserved youth to dream big and pursue impactful careers in healthcare.

Our Story

Dr. Genie’s Kids Foundation was founded in honor of Dr. Eugenia “Genie” Pierce, a pioneering pediatrician with a lifelong commitment to inspiring others to pursue careers in medicine. Born in 1926, Genie overcame societal barriers to become one of only four women in her 1958 medical school class at St. Louis University. She went on to become Chief Resident during her pediatric residency at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Throughout her life, Genie mentored countless young people, including her own daughters, instilling in them a love for healthcare. While she passed away in 2010, her dedication to inspiring the next generation lives on through our foundation.
