Due to the ongoing pandemic, though, in-person after-school programs are up in the air for the 2020-2021 school year.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paragraph\">\n<p>\u201cWe desperately need more resources,\u201d Jodi Grant, executive director of Afterschool Alliance\u2014a nonprofit that helps to give kids access to affordable, quality after-school programs\u2014told <em><a class=\"external-link\" title=\"(opens new window)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/family\/archive\/2020\/07\/how-help-parents-without-fully-reopening-schools\/614836\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"external-disclaimer\">The Atlantic<\/a><\/em>. \u201cWe need [protective gear], and we\u2019re going to need more staff if we really want to have them follow public-health guidelines, which is essential.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph\">\n<p>And while Afterschool Alliance is working to bring innovative, critical programs to the families that need them, it won&#8217;t be easy. Its site is a great resource for finding <a class=\"external-link\" title=\"(opens new window)\" href=\"https:\/\/afterschoolalliance.org\/covid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"external-disclaimer\">after-school options and updates in your state<\/a>, but there are also online programs and camps to help fill the void during the pandemic. Here are some virtual after-school options your kids and teens will love:<\/p>\n<h2>1. Girl Scouts at Home<\/h2>\n<div class=\"paragraph\">\n<p>Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) launched <a class=\"external-link\" title=\"(opens new window)\" href=\"http:\/\/protect-us.mimecast.com\/s\/UzzpCzpApYFR8g5X7FKBNcC?domain=girlscouts.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-describedby=\"external-disclaimer\">Girl Scouts at Home<\/a>\u00a0to offer kids an engaging <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parents.com\/fun\/activities\/outdoor\/free-virtual-summer-camps-2020\/\">virtual summer camp<\/a> experience early in the pandemic. Girl\u00a0Scouts\u00a0at Home is a great option for kids of all grade levels for free, self-guided activities in STEM, entrepreneurship, life skills, and the outdoors.<\/p>\n<h2>2. iD Tech<\/h2>\n<div class=\"paragraph\">\n<p>Creative kids 7 and up with an interest in technology will love <a class=\"external-link\" title=\"(opens new window)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.idtech.com\/courses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"external-disclaimer\">iD Tech&#8217;s virtual class<\/a> offerings for fall. From game development to coding to design, iD Tech&#8217;s online classes have something for everyone\u2014whether they&#8217;re total beginners or complete pros.
