Aspiring Young Veterinarians

The Little Veterinarian School curriculum was designed by a team of board-certified physicians and is led by a trained and background-checked instructor passionate about sharing medical knowledge with aspiring young learners. Watch your child beam with pride when he or she earns a diploma on graduation day! A must for young animal lovers!

Little Veterinarian School 1 - Dog 

Students will get to learn about the exciting field of veterinary medicine and become a veterinarian physician and surgeon. This 6-week program will discuss about canine/dog health. Our Little Veterinarians will get to perform dog assessments making a nose to tail exam, keeping dog healthy with proper dog nutrition, learn about ticks, caring for lacerations and also learn some basic surgical skills, immunization and more! They also get to take home their own premium stuffed toy dog at the end of the program.

Cirriculum

Class 1: What Is In the Veterinarian’s Office?

Our Little Dog Veterinarians will learn and make important measurements on a dog, wee and complete a head to tail assessment and exam on a dog. Each student will get their own premium LVS stuffed dog.

Class 2: The ABCs of Dog Care

Students will learn about the importance of proper nutrition and eating proper foods in keeping a dog healthy and growing properly, know how to make fun treats at home for your dog and know how much water your dog needs a day.

Class 3: Laceration!

We will discuss about lacerations, know what to do when a dog gets hurt and discuss how to care for stitches.

Class 4: Sick of Ticks!

Students will know about ticks and the importance of checking your dog for ticks, learn about removal of ticks from your dog using proper techniques and practice ways to give your dog his tick medication.

Class 5: Immunizations

We will discuss how antibodies recognize and kill germs that enter the body, see how vaccines can protect the body from getting sick and understand the importance of giving your dog vaccinations.

Class 6: Medical Fun and Graduation!

Students will understand the types of jobs available to Veterinarians, design their own Veterinarian clinic and graduate from Little Veterinarian School – Dog 1 program.

Little Veterinarian School 2 - Dog 

Six hours of fun and learning where students will learn about the exciting field of veterinary medicine caring for canine/dog health. Our Little Veterinarians will learn about veterinarian team roles necessary to have in a veterinarian clinic, understand the use of x-rays for dog examination, dog digestion, dog eye health, dog body language! Students will get to take home and adopt their own Little Medical School Premium plush dog and more!

CIRRICULUM

Class 1: Let’s Go to the Vet’s Office!

Students will be learning the important team players in Veterinarian office, understand how these people work with veterinarians to help the patients and owners. Students will also learn to describe some things that pet owners can do to help make the visit go as smoothly as possible for their pet.

Class 2: Radiology

Students will learn what radiographs are, understand the different shades of light and dark mean on a radiograph, and describe how a veterinary team would take a radiograph.

Class 3: Dog Digestion!

We will name, explain and label the organs of digestion, understand how food moves normally through the dog digestive tract, and describe what happens when a foreign body gets stuck in the digestive tract.

Class 4: Introduction to Dog Body Language

Students will know some common dog body postures and what they could be saying about how the pet is feeling, learn about the signs of that a dog needs more space, signals that a dog is relaxed and situations that might make a dog not want to be touched or approached.

Class 5: Eye Spy

We will discuss name and label the different parts of a dog’s eye, recognize the types of abrasions that can be found in the eye, understand the process that vets use to treat these abrasions, and compare what colors dogs see to what colors people see.

Class 6: Medical Fun and Graduation!

Students will understand the types of jobs available to Veterinarians, design their own Veterinarian clinic and graduate from Little Veterinarian School – Dog 2 program.
