Babysitting 101
Little Medical School inspires young minds by sharing our passion for learning, health, and careers in medicine. Through hands-on activities, role-play, and interactive demonstrations, children explore the exciting world of healthcare. All programs are written by experienced educators, board-certified physicians, and trained healthcare professionals. Our classes are led by a trained Little Medical School® Instructor.
Babysitting 101 is a three-and-a-half-hour class, designed for ages 11 and up, who are interested in babysitting. Students will have an introduction to basic care, safety, and first aid for infants and children. Students will also learn about the developmental stages of infants through school-age children and design activities to use with each age. Health, nutrition, and sleep for each developmental age will be taught. Students will have hands-on experience learning the Heimlich maneuver and how to use an EpiPen. Finally, students will design a babysitting advertisement for their business and receive a certificate of completion. The program can also be used to earn the Girl Scouts babysitting badge.
Congratulations to Tampa's newest future Babysitters! Through this program, we have educated 30 babysitters in our community.
About the Owners
Kristina Helton moved home to Florida shortly after receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University. She has a passion for educating children of all ages with her certification in grades K-6 and more than six years of professional experience in our Florida schools. After making the difficult decision to leave her full-time teaching role to stay at home with her little boy, Kristina wanted to continue the enrichment of young minds. She and her sister, Samantha Tracy, found something special. Together they are bringing the Little Medical School franchise to Tampa Bay!
