Why Should Parents Send Their Kids To Summer Camp?<\/h1>\n

Reason 1: It makes them happier<\/span><\/h4>\n

“How can a week of increased learning improve a kid’s overall happiness level?” you might wonder. That is an excellent question. Research findings conclude that kids feel better after attending camp, according to both parents and children. At and after camp, kids are happier due to positive feelings, solid connections, and being isolated from technology. Kids thrive at camp and report higher levels of happiness both before and after their stay. In this day and age, we’re seeing an increase in the number of kids suffering from depression and anxiety<\/a>. It’s great to know that there’s a place where kids can go that genuinely helps them be happier.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reason 2: It helps them become their best self<\/span><\/h4>\n

Kids describe camp as a place where they can be themselves in a variety of ways, all with the same underlying idea. They are free to say and be who they truly are, rather than conforming to what the outside world considers cool and acceptable. Kids acquire the ability to explore their own interests and communicate their own opinions better when they are surrounded by a wide group of peers of various ages and ethnicities.<\/span><\/p>\n

By <\/span>stepping away from their regular activities and normal life schedules, kids have the opportunity to think through what\u2019s really important to them as individuals.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reason 3: It grows their grit<\/span><\/h4>\n

Self-reliance, failures and mistakes, and achieving goals are all camp experiences that help kids build grit. Camp provides children with an opportunity to be away from their parents while learning to handle more responsibilities on their own. Kids gain confidence in their own abilities to make decisions and handle problems without their parents stepping in to help or rescue them from mistakes. For kids, simply being on their own boosts their confidence and they feel more self-reliant after a few weeks of being responsible for themselves and their things.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reason 4: They Meet Positive Role Models<\/span><\/h4>\n

A beneficial aspect of camp is that children are exposed to a different type of adult role model than that which they see in the media. In fact, the college students who choose to work at a camp throughout the summer are a fantastic group of young people. The majority of them are excellent students with exceptional leadership abilities. They enjoy being outside and working with kids, and they are the type of individuals we want children to look up to.<\/span><\/p>\n

They enjoy leading talks and assisting their campers in developing confidence on themes that are important to them. At summer camp, there is little emphasis on looks, so designer clothes, make-up, and trendy hairstyles.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reason 5: They Develop Communication Skills<\/span><\/h4>\n

Campers routinely report in post-camp questionnaires that ditching their cell phones was one of the best parts of their camp experience. They even practice it at home, putting their phones away during meals with friends so they can connect more authentically face-to-face. Kids get many hours each day to develop these face-to-face communication skills because there is no electronic tie-downs. As they constructively connect with their friends, they learn the value of things like eye contact, smiles, and body language. <\/span><\/p>\n

Counselors assist in dynamic discussions as well. This allows campers to learn to ask questions, listen more intently, and identify common interests. At camp, kids learn and practice important communication skills that they can apply throughout their lives.<\/span><\/p>\n
