Little Medical School® MidSouth is owned and operated by Ulric Duncan MD. He is currently practicing gastroenterology in Southaven Mississippi. His passion for medicine and desire to help young people aspire to pursue careers in medicine at a young age led him to look for a Stem program. After attending a Little Medical School program at the headquarters and seeing the excitement and what the kids learn, he realized this was the program he desired. Dr. Duncan is married to Keena, with 3 adult children, son-in-law, daughter-in-law and 2 grandchildren.
Little Medical School®, based in St. Louis, MO, was founded in 2011 by Dr. Mary Mason. As an internist and mother of three children, she found there was a lack of programming that exposed elementary school children to medicine and health careers. Using the important concept of role-play, she designed a complete mini-medical school experience that allows children to explore the field of medicine and careers in health care through games, crafts, and interactive demonstrations. By participating in these role-playing experiences, Little Medical School®is inspiring tomorrow’s doctors today!
Since Dr. Mason began creating the curriculum in 1998 as a graduate school project while completing both her MBA and her chief resident year at Washington University, the Little Medical School®organization has grown significantly. Programs are now available across the United States and internationally, with growing curriculums.
Along with Little Medical School®, current program options include Little Nursing School®, Little Pharmacy School®, and Little Veterinarian School®, . Little Sports Medicine School, Little Pediatrician School, and Little Wilderness Medicine School, additional medical-themed programs are currently being created to provide ongoing education to broaden the perspectives of our future healthcare providers and provide valuable science-based skills and knowledge.
