Keeping Kids Busy During Summer Break

Little Medical School talks about how you can keep kids happy and busy during summer break.

It may seem strange, but summer break is one of the best times to encourage learning with your kids. Your laid-back attitude puts you in the proper frame of mind to enjoy learning rather than enforcing it.

Learning on summer break tends to be more practical, which makes the “learning” more interesting and memorable. The best part is that you won’t have to beg or bargain with your relaxed kids to make it happen; at least, not if you apply these suggestions.

Make your summer travel a time to pick up some language skills

Once your child discovers which language is spoken, it’s time to learn some basic words and phrases. Do this together as a family with websites and apps like Duolingo.

Have your kids put their abilities to the test when you arrive at your vacation destination: can they ask for the bathroom? Are they able to read the signs?

Mini-Lessons in the Form of “Road Trip Games”

There are more applications accessible today than we can imagine, including educational apps that make learning exciting for kids – and easy to sneak in during the summer.

Download these kinds of applications for your kids to utilize throughout the travel so you don’t have to listen to grumbling or groaning, or worse, the dreaded “Are we there yet?” They’ll not only be learning, but you’ll also get some peace and quiet.

Sign them up for a summer camp

Summer camps can help instill confidence, allow kids to make new friends, and learn interesting concepts that they may not have access to during the school year.

Educational summer camps especially are great because they combine learning and having fun.

Time to hit the (enjoyable) books!

There’s more to books than just reading. Activity and craft books are among the most popular boredom relievers among children. Activity books are the entryway to inspiration and creativity, with anything from easy-to-make Minecraft projects to Star Wars-themed science experiments to rubber-band character patterns. Your local store or library has great titles to buy or check out for some new summer fun.
